Essay Findings (if that makes sense)

So I'm doing my Essay on Technology and how much we are learning to depend on it more and more. Well...I found an interesting 'article' on this and it really made me think. This particular sentence is what brought on my 'I need to blog post about thing' feeling. =P haha.

“Initial qualitative evidence is that the ease of electronic communication may be making teens less interested in face-to-face communication with their friends. More research is needed to see how widespread this phenomenon is and what it does to the emotional quality of a relationship.”

This really made me think because I guess I realized how true this really is. Although talking over the internet and writing to people is a form of communication, it's not as rewarding as actual face to face conversations because I believe face to face is more emotional. For example, I have talked to some people at school over the internet that I have never talked to face to face before. We have had some really 'in depth' conversations but I haven't felt any 'bond' like I would if it was one of my face to face friends. In fact, every person I have talked to online that I have had no previous face to face conversations...I haven't talked to them any other way than online. It's like...the relationship is kind of fake. I don't know about anyone else but I find it kind of surprising. It seems like if I talked to those people online and built a 'relationship' there, that the relationship would extend beyond the internet...but it never has for me. Any thoughts on this? I mean...is this only me, because I'm Shy? Or has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Anyways...
I am actually not eating something this time. I'm just chewing gum for the first time after surgery! And it tastes good!!! =)

P.S. I really love Sign Language... It's so beautiful <3. My sister is going to go to College to become an ASL interpreter. How cool is that?!?!? I'm proud of her. hehehe

I need to get back to researching new stuff for my Essay now, but it's been fun!
Oh...and I think I am becoming strangely addicted to blogging...because I not only get to write, but I can use it as an excuse in my mind saying "It's still homework...technically". It's actually VERY Distracting!!! hahaha...for reals though, this can't be healthy. =)

Op-Ed Paper? HELP!

So does anyone know if the op-ed paper rough draft is still due on friday? cause we never talked about it in class and i just read the description and i feel like if i start it now without any guidance it will be one seriously screwed up paper...so i hope the rough draft isn't still due friday...

this sucks.

so this morning...garrett informs me that the essay is due tomorrow. let me just say...i had no idea. i don't even know where my calender is...and that essay has been completely erased from my mind for a while. and then i realize..my essay is at the school. and the school isn't open today. so i am probably going to write a brand new paper..and it's probly gonna suck. oh well, i deserve the grade i get i guess.
i seriously need to get my stuff together...ahhh.

Nursery Rhymes

Whew!
I don't know if it was just me, but did this week seem a lot crazier than usual?
Man I'm glad it's over.
Anyways I have to say that I really enjoyed our discussion about nursery rhymes the one day.
It brought back a lot of good memories and has made me more excited to finish 1984!

REBEL

This is what comes to mind when I think of rebel

Portfolio

I must say that through doing this Portfolio I realized that I don't like writing about myself.
It's MUCH more fun and simple to write about someone else...especially fantasy characters.
I feel as if I am bragging if I say "Oh well...my best quality is-" blah blah blah...ughh.. haha
I really don't know what I am good at other than maybe writing and learning languages. Other than that...my brain is pretty much useless. hahaha... I don't like this. Just saying....

Controversial Issue Discussions

Before I begin to state the way I view our conversations on Controversial Issues and about the Health Care one we just discussed, I would like to share something with everyone. I have mixed feelings about sharing my opinions in class for a few reasons. If I am not very knowledgeable about a certain subject than I don't like to talk about things I am not sure of. Like with the Health Care, I only first grasped what it was all about during the discussion and didn't have anything I could say that would make the conversation more interesting or thought provoking. The other reason is because I am really bad at talking, I always have been and maybe I won't always be but I think I have communication issues. hahaha...It's like...when I'm writing, I can see my thoughts in front of me and that's what I build off from in order to come up with ideas. In my mind I can form or plan out everything I want to say...but when it's my turn to talk, my words get all jumbled and my formulated 'plan' goes down the drain.

Moving on...
I understand a lot more about why Universal Health Care is a controversial issue. So I did learn a lot. During the conversation I remembered a video I watched about Health Care in Advanced Health Class ( I think it was Advanced anyways...). It was devastating to see people who were dying because their insurance would cover a surgery that would save their life. One woman had a tumor (or something) in her brain and her Insurance wouldn't cover the surgery that would save her life. After a while of waiting and trying to discover a way she could have this life-saving surgery, she ended up moving to Canada. In Canada, she was able to get the surgery she needed and is still alive today. (Well...at least when we watched the video) I guess the point I am getting at is I don't really know what Health Care plan we should have but all I know is that people shouldn't have to die because they don't have the money to stay alive. That women would have died if she stayed here just because she couldn't pay to get the tumor removed. It's not her fault that it grew there, and it's not fair that so many must die just because their Insurance won't cover medical procedures that would save them.

Anyways....I am going to work on my Portfolio and my Essay.
This should be interesting.

Oh and I just ate a life saver gummy. =) Those a quite tasty. Compared to the nasty "Protein Shakes" I 'eat' at lunch at school anyways. hahaha... I like writing random stuff at the end of my posts. hehehe...
