I was a tool...
I feel now, after reading most of JGHG, that I was a tool to the government. I didn't see how there was no honor in fighing a war. I guess the NAVY and Marine commercials got the best of me! But really, I feel literarily enlightened. I think now that I can truly understand the message of Trumbo without feelings of discontent or confusion.

I think it is really interesting to see how the military markets to young people now... and I find it interesting that they can create contracts with minors who can't even commit to buying a car on their own. But I don't want anyone in the military or entering the military to feel like they shouldn't be proud of their commitment, because it says a lot about their character.
ReplyDeleteI think there is honor, depending how you look at things. I think there is honor towards the people who fight in the wars, but almost disgust at the people who start the wars.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you ross i fell like this book broaden my point of view on war
ReplyDeleteRight when we started this book, I saw a new NAVY commercial. It had the slogan 'A Global Force For Good'. I thought it was ironic. :]
ReplyDeleteRight? Gives you a whole new look on things.
